What is chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a growing, regulated healthcare profession specialising in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of musculoskeletal complaints. Chiropractors are most commonly known for the treatment of conditions concerning the spine, however they also treat conditions relating to other areas of the body involving the muscles, nerves and joints.
There is an emphasis on manual therapy including spinal manipulation and other joint and soft-tissue manipulation, and includes exercises, and health and lifestyle counselling.
Every individual who calls themselves a chiropractor in the UK must have undertaken a university degree in chiropractic and must be registered with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC). All accredited chiropractors can be found on the GCC website (www.gcc-uk.org)
